Carrington Build and Carrington Business Theme versions 1.1 Released

Carrington Build version 1.1

Today Crowd Favorite has released the latest version of Carrington Build, the best drag-and-drop page templating system for WordPress. The update, version 1.1, includes numerous bug fixes since the initial release and a handful of new features:

  • Support for WordPress 3.1
  • A new Carousel Module has been introduced which allows users to easily add a list of posts to highlight in a variety of configurations
  • Crowd Favorite’s Revision Manager has also been packaged with Carrington Build to allow Module data to be versioned alongside WordPress’ native post revisions.

Carrington Build version 1.1 is immediately available as an update for existing Carrington Build customers on the My Account page or in the Crowd Favorite store.

Carrington Business version 1.1

The Carrington Business WordPress theme has been updated to include the latest fixes and features included in Carrington Build 1.1. The Carrington Business theme has also been updated to the latest Carrington Core theme framework 3.1 update.

Carrington Business version 1.1 is immediately available as a downloadable update for existing Carrington Business customers on the My Account page or in the Crowd Favorite store.


QA and Test Plan

We’ve also included our detailed test steps performed throughout the beta testing and release process. The following can be used as a guide for confirming sites’ features and functionality continue to work as expected.

Note: Test any outstanding issues or bugs before beginning testing Carrington Build modules and widgets

  • VM Setup: <IP address here> <insert local site here> for testing in IE
  • Tested in: Safari; Chrome; FF3.6; IE7; IE8
  • Log in to <insert local site here>

  • Choose Pages from the left navigation pane
  • Click on a page that already exists
  • On the build tab click “Add module”
  • Use 1 column

Note: Remember to Update the page after you have previewed the page and added a few modules/widgets. For each module/widget below enter special characters or HTML or Java to test for any breaking points into text fields.

    • Add title
    • Content
    • New image
    • Choose a header image alignment and content size
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm updated title, content, and image to the page
    • Click edit page to return to the admin page.
  • Add module: Carousel
    • Add a carousel
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm the carousel is added. Note any issues.
  • Add module: Divider
    • Add a divider
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm the divider is added. Note any issues.
  • Add module: Gallery
    • Add an image(s) to the gallery
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates
  • Add module: Heading
    • Add a test heading
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
  • Add module: Hero
    • Add an image, title and content
    • Click a different formatting image alignment to test
    • Save changes

  • Add module: HTML
    • Add some raw HTML or JavaScript

    • Taxonomies: select Categories click add filter, check the checkbox for a category.
    • Author: select default “Any Author”

  • Add module: Notice
    • Add text for a notice

  • Add module: Plain Text
    • Add some plain text and some HTML to make sure it doesn’t break or display the plain text.
    • Save changes

  • Add module: Post Callout
    • Search for a post
    • Click a post to callout
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
  • Add module: Pull Quote
    • Add Text to the Quote Text box
    • Add an attribution
    • Add Attribution URL of your choice (I used /wp-admin)
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
      • Return to module and add a bad URL or special characters save your change, preview the page to make sure it doesn’t break the module.
    • Revert back to the original entry for Attribution and Attribution URL
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
  • Add module: Rich Text
    • Enter some text
    • Enter special characters or HTML or Java to test for any breaking points
    • Add a different color, style, bullets, and perform a spell check to the text entered
    • Change the style of text entered
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
  • Add module: Short Code
    • Add a shortcode (example: [cfgts= 'insert shortcode here'])
    • Include special characters HTML to break the page.
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
  • Add module: Side Bar
    • Select Register new sidebar from the dropdown
    • Name the new Sidebar
    • Save changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
  • Add module: Sub-Pages
    • Note: module can not be added until a subpage is created. To add a subpage, click pages/<page name here>/Quick edit/ and choose a parent page.
    • Once a subpage is created, add a title for the subpage
    • Save changes

  • Reorder the modules in the row, and preview the page to test that the modules are displayed in the new format.
  • Widget: Archives
    • Add a Name for the monthly archive
    • Save Changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
  • Add Widget: Calendar
    • Add A Name for the Calendar
    • Save Changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
  • Add Widget: Categories
    • Add A Name for the Category
    • Save Changes

  • Add Widget: Custom Menu
    • Follow the steps on the page to create a menu and menu items.
    • Add navigation a page and a category to the new menu.
      • drag and drop page and category to different positions on the layout
    • Save Changes
    • Return to the Build and click on Add module
    • Select the menu just created
    • Save again
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
  • Add Widget: Links
    • Keep default All Links
    • Check and uncheck the checkboxes, as a test to confirm they are functional
    • Save Changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
    • Retry with changing to <blogroll> check or uncheck or check previously selected options
    • Save Changes
    • Preview page to confirm updates. Note any issues.
  • Add Widget: Meta
    • Add a title for Meta, add in HTML special Characters and save.
    • Add Widget: Pages

    • Add a page title
    • Under exclude add </div> <br /> to test for breaking points
    • Save Changes

    • Move modules/widgets used into the next column (located below the column you’ve just tested) move any extra modules to column 1 (located
      above the column you’ve just tested)
    • Delete the row you’ve just tested
  • Repeat the steps above for all row types.
  • Test a Revision, click the revisions from the menu below the build, click restore to activate a revision.
    • return to the build page to view the revision was activated.
  • Note begin Initial Regression test against bugs from previous release
