bit.ly not shortening post's URL

    I am using v2.4 with WP 3.0.1 and this is an awesome plugin! I recently made sure the plugin was setup and accessing Twitter account with the OAuth keys, etc.
    So- ever since then, when I publish a blog post, it writes to Twitter but the bit.ly URL shortening does not occur- ?
    End up with twitter posts, with the actual page name URL (very long)
    Anyone else run into this?
    Do I need to adjust something with the bit.ly account as well?
    appreciate any help/pointing me in the right direction.

      hi there. Does anyone else have this problem? is there something I am missing at the Settings? appeciate any support/answer. thanks

        I'm running into the same issue. Bit.ly works with tweetmeme (tweet button next to each blog post) but Twitter Tools doesn't. Even though the bit.ly info is the same for both plugins.

          I'm having a similar problem on our site as well. Posts are being tweeted but Bit.ly is not being used.

            Yes, I have the same issue (with TT v2.4 and WP v 3.1.0)
            Everything else works; Tweet from blog post, hashtags, excludes) but the fule URL of the post is tweeted. I have checked the bit.ly API key and it's correct (common problem appears to be an extra space is added to the key).

            Any ideas? Apart from this issue, it's a great plug in...

              I have the same issue now as well. All posting, hashtags, excludes etc are working fine but the bit.ly stopped working yesterday 27 Aug

              Any answers or solutions would be great!

                I installed Twitter Tools on a client site today. Everything is working, EXCEPT for the bit.ly shortening. Links appear on Twitter in their unshortened form.

                I have made sure the bit.ly API key in the Twitter Tools settings is correct (no trailing space). I have made sure that I manually created a bit.ly account (rather than registering with my twitter/facebook credentials). I have also disabled and re-enabled the plugin many times.

                Any suggestions much appreciated!

                (I am using WP 3.2, and the Twitter tools plugins were downloaded and installed today.)
