I use two different WordPress footnotes plugins (started out with one and switched to a new one, but didn't want to convert my old footnotes), and neither will correctly display the footnote notation in superscript with the Carrington Blog 2.2 theme. The footnote notation appears like this, where the 1 is a regular hyperlink not displaying as superscript:

What do I need to do to get footnotes to display directly using the plugins?

I know how to do it the long way with HTML, but I'd rather switch to another theme that will work with the plugins than go through all of that. I *really* like this theme and have already spent significant time tweaking it to suit my fancy, so I don't want to switch.
