Lijit Search Plugin

WordPress Plugin for Social Search

Lijit came to us in early 2008 looking for a new and improved WordPress plugin for their web search service. Ultimately they wanted to provide a better user experience for publisher in the WordPress community. We love building plugins and especially enjoyed working with people that care deeply about their users like Lijit.

Integrate with default WordPress search

Lijit’s blog describes the new functionality best: “it looks like a normal search bar, but when you do a search, BAM! Search results brought to you courtesy of Lijit.” It was determined that instead of having to install any addition code or “widjit” in a sidebar, the user should simply log in through the settings page and configure it to, ahem, hijack, WordPress search. This means no more duplicate (confusing) search boxes and results with added relevancy and value.

End-to-end user interaction, never leave the dashboard

To create the best possible user experience, we used Lijit APIs so that the user never has to leave the comfort of the settings page to register an account and setup the plugin. New or existing users can signup and register from the dashboard, view their search statistics, and configure the search settings. In other words, we integrated the Lijit branding and style right into the WordPress admin.
