If enabled in the Server Settings, you can choose (in your Preferences) to receive a e-mail notification whenever you are assigned a task/note or when someone updates a task/note that is assigned to you. If you later decide you do not want to receive these e-mails, you can just go back to your preferences and uncheck the box.

Note: your server must be configured to send e-mail for e-mail notifications to work.
