Tasks™ is web-based software that must be installed into a web server environment. However, this doesn’t mean that Tasks™ can only be installed onto a web server. Most modern computers are very capable of running a web server and a database. Tasks™ can be installed onto any computer that has:
- A web server (usually Apache or IIS) compatible with PHP.
- The PHP engine (version 4.1 or later, including PHP 5) installed and configured with the web server.
- Access to a MySQL database (4.x or later, normally installed locally).
All of these are available for Windows, Mac OS X and Unix/Linux systems – most even have friendly installers.
Run the Server Check script to see if your system is ready for Tasks™. If the server check fails, you may want to look into a Use Tasks account or sign up with one of our recommended hosts.
