Requirements Documentation

Crowd Favorite’s Digital Strategy team works closely with our Technical Architects, who are skilled at eliciting and documenting the technical details that will serve as the checklist for development and feed quality assurance test plans. To be useful, a requirement has to be understood by all key stakeholders. Sponsors and business subject matter experts need to know that the ultimate solution will solve their problem and meet their objectives. Developers need to understand how to design and build the final product. The testing staff needs to be able to find and remove any defects the product may have. Change managers (Human Resources staff, consultants, business managers, etc.) need to understand how the end product will affect the organization.

Requirements documentation

We work with you to determine the project’s sponsor and key business stakeholders, who will ultimately bring multiple perspectives to the requirements. Your Crowd Favorite team then separates Requirements Documentation into functional and nonfunctional requirements. Functional requirements (sometimes called the business requirements) are the capabilities that the product must do to satisfy the user needs. Non-functional requirements may include usability, technical, environmental , support and interaction, performance, reliability and security requirements. Other components of Requirements Documentation may include:

  • User stories: The more detail and context we can use when telling a user story, the higher the likelihood is of the resulting requirements being implemented correctly.
  • Defining the product purpose and vision: This is where we give the team a shared understanding of the direction that this project is going. Discussing the user problems (not solutions) that must be addressed, the target demographic (companies, customers, users) and various use cases for each demographic.
  • The product roadmap: A visual representation of the direction of where the product is going, along with the desired outcomes.
  • Placeholder for conversation: A place to capture past conversations along with future ones. This may also include user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Analysis assets: Create visual models that help the team remember the big picture, how sections, processes, people , technology, rules fit together. This is made up of items like story maps, scope diagrams, decision tables, data flow diagrams. These are visual and should be very visible to the team.
  • Assumptions: Listing technical, business or user assumptions to provide context to people reading requirements.
